http://mancc.org/content/view/61/33/ - Choreographers might be very interested in this link for the MANCC Choreographic Fellowships. The Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) offers Choreographic Fellowships to professional choreographers, allowing them to conduct their own creative research. This is how the program is described on their website:
" Artists are free to maximize the use of the center’s facilities and other resources, including technology. Choreographers are encouraged to take full advantage of MANCC’s laboratory environment in whatever way most useful to their own artistic development. This might involve the testing of new ideas on professional dancers, the inclusion of audiences in the creative process, or the development of dialogue about their work. Through a formal Request for Proposals, artists are asked to describe how they would use the MANCC facilities and a stipend of $10,000. Choreographers may work alone, or they may bring their own dancers, musicians and/or other collaborating artists. The length of the residency is at the discretion of the artist, but is typically two to three weeks. As part of the fellowships, MANCC asks artists to provide multiple entrypoints for audiences. Artists are invited to share their choreographic process with one or more of MANCC’s target audiences: Florida State University (students, staff, and faculty), the greater Tallahassee community. Rather than the usual lectures and master classes, artists are encouraged to form intimate interactions that are engaging rather than presentational only. However, the format and timing are determined by the artist, and supports his or her own process. Choreographic Fellowship Selection Process: Up to six choreographers are selected annually. Artists are nominated by peers in the field each April and approximately 15 are invited to apply each May through an RFP process. Final decisions are made in August by MANCC staff in conjunction with a panel of national constituents. Choreographic Fellowship Selection Criteria: In no particular order:
Artistic merit and evidence of national significance
Timeliness of support in an artist’s career
Articulated understanding of the MANCC research opportunity
Proposed budget – resourcefulness in use of $10,000
Project feasibility and resourcefulness in use of time at MANCC
Creativity of proposed entry points for MANCC constituents
Choreographic Fellowship Eligibility:
U.S. based professional choreographers
Project must take place at MANCC facility in Tallahassee, Florida
Choreographer may not be a full-time student or full-time/tenure track faculty member at a college or university, or be currently employed by Florida State University ."
To contact MANCC or join their mailing /emailing list: (call) (850)-645-2894; or (email) info@mancc.org . More information can also be found on their FAQ page:

www.danceusa.org/our_members/news.htm - At the very end of this page, there is information about the 50 $50,000 USA Fellowships. According to this:
"America's finest living artists now have a new home where they may find unprecedented private funding. USA is a new nonprofit organization, launched in September 2005 with $20 million in seed funding from a coalition of leading foundations. The long-term vision of the organization is to 'ignite the creativity that makes this country great while building a permanent endowment to support artists' work in perpetuity.'
USA Fellows, the organization's first program, will annually award 50 grants of $50,000 each. The fellowships are designed to function as 'research and development' funding or 'venture capital' for the imagination of artists by encouraging recipients to test new ideas and applications in their work.
Fellowships will be awarded across a broad array of disciplines---Architecture, Design, and Fashion, Crafts and Traditional Arts, DANCE, Literature(fiction, nonfiction, and poetry): Media Arts(film, media, and radio): Music; Performing Arts (performance art and theater): and the Visual Arts. To learn more about the United States Grants program, please visit:
www.unitedstatesartists.org/Public/GrantsProgram/index.cfm .
www.nefa.org/grantprog/ndp/index.html -This link leads to information about the National Dance Program's Production Grants. Here is how the program is described on their website:
"The National Dance Project (NDP) provides a system of support for the living, growing discipline of contemporary dance, by supporting the production and distribution of dance in the United States. NDP views touring as central to the vitality of dance as an art form, and structures its granting process to link the creation and touring of new work. Through the dedicated efforts of dance presenters across the country, NDP helps audiences connect with the rich and varied talents of choreographers and their companies...
Individuals may nominate projects to receive two types of NDP grants:
NDP Production Grants annual deadline: April 1 (or first business day thereafter)
NDP Touring Grants annual deadline: November 1(or first business day thereafter)
Every season, NDP awards 15-20 Production Grants, which typically range from $15,000-$35,00 each. Because NDP views touring as essential to the vitality of dance as an art form, NDP Production Grants are awarded in conjunction with NDP Touring support, which assists a tour of the new work in the season following the work's creation.
NDP Touring Grants support the distribution and presentation (touring) of NDP-funded projects, and projects selected to receive NDP Tour Only support (awarded to projects created without a NDP Production Grant that are complete and ready to tour nationally)"

Also, Jane Forde, manager of the National Dance Project, mentions that the NDP will be working with the National Endowment for the Arts to administer their American Masterpiece: Dance (AMD) program. This program is built on the architecture of NDP. Please visit the guidelines link to learn more about this program.
I will be posting more listings about prizes, competitions and opportunities for dancers in the next few days. I will just update this post. Please return often to learn about these new opportunities, (I was afraid that if I listed everything now it would take too long ; therefore, I posted these opportunities now so that you can have access to this great information right away).
And finally,(just a reminder) COMEDIANS might want to look at my updated Opportunities for Comedian post ( 2 posts ago) in order to find out about THE LAST COMIC STANDING AUDITIONS!
